Main event winner will take home over $600 000
Poker aces, and those who want to compete against them, are gearing up for the biggest poker tournament on the British Columbia calendar, which takes place for the third consecutive year at the River Rock Casino between November 18-25.
The B.C. Poker Championships is organised by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and has a $2 500 buy-in which has made it a popular pro tournament. Last year some 784 hopefuls started out before David Ross White from Abbotsford, B.C. finally triumphed.
"This year's BC Poker Championships feature an action-packed week of Texas Hold'em events, an even bigger prize pool, plus a new ladies' only event," says Darryl Schiewe, BCLC's acting vice-president of casino gaming. "British Columbia has become a magnet for North America's best poker players because of the calibre of our tournaments."
This year the total estimated prize pool is $3.6 million, and that could generate a main prize of $612 500.
The schedule of events is:
* Nov. 18: Ladies' Only Event, $500 buy-in
* Nov. 19: No-Limit Event, $1,000 buy-in
* Nov. 20: Pot-Limit Event, $1,000 buy-in
* Nov. 21: Super-Satellite Event, $180 buy-in
* Nov. 22-25: No-Limit Main Event, $2,500 buy-in |
