6 025 poker players signed up for No-Limit Hold'em event
The 5th Poker Stars.com World Championship of Online Poker tournament continues to generate huge prize money as it continues this week, with event number 5, a No-Limit Hold'em competition, attracting a record 6 025 entry field generating a significant prize-pool which Poker Stars boosted to over $3 million.
The numbers ensured a wide diversity of skill among opponents that resulted in some hard-fought games over the 20 hours that the event ran - a WCOOP record.
The top two players, a Dane using the handle "AB_illusive" and Germany's ”taktloss47" agreed to a chop on the pot, leaving the mandatory 5 percent for which to compete. Play then continued, with the Danish player the ultimate winner, although the chop meant that both heads up opponents did very well in take-home cash.
AB_illusive gave his bank balance a major boost with the winner's prize of almost $400 000, whilst his German competitor collected a $260 184.82 paycheck for his effort and time.
Giving an indication of the big money involved in event 5, the third placed American player "glynda" collected $ 162 373.75 and the Finnish player who came in fourth took home $ 126 525. |
