Five major poker tournaments around the British Isles peak in a GBP500 000 finale
Gala group's spectacular Great British Poker Tour completes its inaugural season this week with a GBP 500 000 prize pool, four day Grand Final at the Gala Casino Harbourside in Bristol where the 2007 GBP Champion will be decided .
The big event caps off a debut for the tour that produced great poker in tournaments in Edinburgh, Teesside, Nottingham, Bournemouth and Leeds. Prior to the main event there will be two other tournaments with significant prize pools.
Buy-in for the main event is GBP 2 500 + GBP 50, and besides the main prize pool the top five players in the tournament will be given special bonus prizes, comprising travel and entry packages to major international poker tournaments in the United States, Australia and Europe.
Professionals like Roland de Wolfe, Ram Vaswani, Barney Boatman and Joe Beevers are expected to be among the starting field this week, along with American players Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Jennifer Tilly, Robert Williamson III and Jamie Gold.
"So far in the GBPT we've seen some really high standards of poker from local amateurs holding their own against the U.K. and European pro players, so it'll be a fascinating contest to see what drama will unfold with these star names of world poker in the frame," said Thomas Kremser, GBPT tournament director. |
