Internet betting site "a tremendous victory for New York says NYRA president
The much anticipated online betting website for the New York Racing Association has launched with much hype from senior racing figures.
The advent of online betting for the horse race business in the USA takes advantage of the legislative carve-outs that have long been a controversial element in the US debate on Internet gambling.
The NYRA application allows horseracing fans to access real-time racetrack information and securely place wagers on all races. The Association boasts in its press material that the online betting facility is "....the only Advance Deposit Wagering [ADW] program in the country," and that it is "...truly the industry's finest and most comprehensive wagering platform."
"The official release of this eagerly anticipated online wagering product is a tremendous victory for the State of New York. Our thoroughbred racing fans demanded unfettered wagering access and NYRA delivered," said Charles Hayward, NYRA President and CEO.
Software provider Sona developed, QA-tested, and implemented Phase I of the project in just 32 days. "Our team is very impressed by the performance and functionality of the web-application, and especially with how quickly Sona was able to get the job done," added Hayward, "Sona produced a fantastic product, met all of the milestones, and maintained superior communication with the team, which included developers from NYRA, The Jockey Club, VeCommerce and United Tote. This is the start of a new day for New York racing."
The health and viability of the thoroughbred industry is a top NYRA priority, the press release adds. |
